NewEmotional Intelligence & AI: A Human-Centered Approach to Innovation in the Workplace

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

‘Emotional Intelligence & AI: A Human-Centered Approach to Innovation in the Workplace’ is a full-day interactive training designed to equip participants with the skills to navigate an AI-powered workplace while maintaining emotional intelligence. This course alternates between foundational concepts of emotional intelligence—such as self-awareness, empathy, and psychological safety—and key AI principles, including human-centered AI, ethics, and workplace applications. Through real-world case studies, hands-on exercises, and integrated discussions, participants will explore how to use AI effectively while fostering collaboration, trust, and human connection. By the end of the session, attendees will have practical strategies to harness AI as a tool for innovation while strengthening emotional intelligence to lead and thrive in the future of work.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Understand emotional intelligence (EI) and its role in the workplace – develop self-awareness, empathy, and psychological safety to enhance collaboration and decision-making.
  • Gain a foundational understanding of AI – learn key AI concepts, workplace applications, and the principles of human-centred AI (HCAI).
  • Explore the intersection of AI and emotional intelligence – discover how AI can augment human capabilities while maintaining trust, ethics, and human connection.
  • Develop strategies for AI adoption with psychological safety – learn how to implement AI in a way that fosters inclusivity, transparency, and workplace well-being.
  • Apply learning through real-world case studies and hands-on exercises – engage with examples from public and private sector organisations to see how AI is successfully integrated with a human-centred approach.

Build practical skills for the future of work – gain actionable strategies to leverage AI while strengthening emotional intelligence for leadership, teamwork, and adaptability.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

This course is designed for civil servants across any public service departments and agencies who will interact with or be affected by AI implementations and need a foundational understanding of the technology. In addition to providing essential AI knowledge, the course emphasises the role of emotional intelligence (EI) in navigating AI adoption with confidence, empathy, and psychological safety. By fostering both technical awareness and human-centred skills, this training ensures that all relevant stakeholders in the public sector are equipped to integrate and utilise AI effectively while maintaining trust, collaboration, and ethical decision-making in government.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of this programme, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand AI fundamentals within a human-centred context – gaining a clear grasp of AI’s capabilities, limitations, and ethical considerations while recognising the importance of human oversight and decision-making.
  • Critically evaluate AI implementations with an emotionally intelligent approach – identifying potential risks, biases, and opportunities to ensure AI supports fairness, inclusivity, and transparency in public service.
  • Develop strategies to foster psychological safety in AI adoption – ensuring that AI is implemented in a way that promotes trust, open dialogue, and collaboration across teams.
  • Strengthen decision-making skills by integrating AI insights with emotional intelligence – balancing data-driven recommendations with human judgement, empathy, and ethical reasoning.
  • Enhance workplace communication and collaboration in an AI-driven environment – using emotional intelligence to navigate change, engage stakeholders, and build confidence in AI-assisted processes.

Gain practical experience through real-world case studies and hands-on exercises – applying both AI knowledge and EI skills to create responsible, effective, and human-centred AI strategies in government.
