Dealing With Pressure
The phone is ringing, another email pings into your inbox, your colleagues need this document, your boss wants that report, an important contact needs a meeting, and all ASAP, if not quicker.
But – as so many of us think so often – there’s only one of me.
Pressure is an ever-present part of modern life.
But it can be managed and eased, and even used to your advantage, with a little thought, some planning and preparation, and a few tricks.
In this highly interactive course 'Dealing with Pressure', former BBC News Correspondent Simon Hall, who handled pressure every day, gives you insights, tips and tricks for dealing with deadlines, stress and demands, using scenarios ranging from a TV newsroom to Army Officer training.
This course is from our Professional Development Skills series. At the Civil Service College, we tailor our courses to each participant’s role and organisations, ensuring that each participant gets the most out of the training. Our courses and trainers are continuously updated and evaluated to ensure that we are always delivering the best service possible.
Anyone, at any level, who feels pressure at work and wants to manage it effectively.
Participants will understand the many and varied causes of pressure, and how they can be managed and alleviated.
They will also learn how to use pressure in a positive way, to maximise their performance.
Participants will become aware of the need for prioritisation, both for themselves, their team and their organisation, and how that helps to ease pressure, along with the setting of reasonable goals and managing expectations.
The role of effective team building and clear communications in reducing pressure will also be important lessons from the course.
The overall impact will be to help enhance participants’ performance at work, relieve the tension in their personal and professional lives, and, in turn for their colleagues, and their working environment.
