Media Training

This highly practical Media Training course is designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence to deliver effective media interviews across print, radio, and television platforms. It also prepares attendees to handle media enquiries and brief spokespeople within their organisation.

Each course is customised with fully researched, realistic media interview scenarios available as full-day, half-day and media seminars. Sessions include full video and audio playback for constructive feedback and reflection.

  • Mini Studio Setup: We recreate a TV/radio studio in your training room or deliver the course virtually via Teams or Zoom.

Andrew Carapiet

Andrew Carapiet is a former BBC Television Producer for national BBC News programmes and is one of the UK’s most experienced Media Trainers and Communications Skills coaches specialising in the public sector.  Andrew has worked for BBC Radio and BBC Television as a Reporter, Producer, Correspondent, Presenter and News Editor.  Andew has worked as a Senior Producer for BBC Breakfast News for seven years, as well as the BBC’s One O’clock News and Ten O’clock News.  He also acted as a Health Correspondent and a Political Correspondent.  Andrew was the youngest BBC journalist to interview Mrs Thatcher when she was Prime Minister.  He served on the BBC’s Ten Year Strategy Committee and helped shape the BBC’s news output.  Andrew has also worked as a Producer for Sky News and for Mirror Group Newspapers.  He was the founder of Communications Skills provider Media Friendly over twenty years ago and has been delivering media training courses to the public sector mainly, but also to the private sector, at the highest management levels.  He delivers media training mainly face to face, but since the Pandemic, also virtually, on Teams and Zoom.  Since 2012 Andrew has been used by Civil Service Learning to deliver media training to senior Civil Servants from the wider Civil Sector as well as many Government Departments.  Andrew has also been delivering media training to Local Authorities, the NHS, Housing Associations and the Charity Sector for the last twenty years.
