Preparing for Retirement
"Enjoyable! and instructional!"
Head of Higher Education
Retirement is a time for positive changes and new opportunities. However, in reality, some people find it difficult to adjust to their new lifestyle of more free time and less money. It comes as a surprise to many that they miss the daily structure and mental challenge that work gave them, not to mention the social aspect of working with others.
This course on 'Preparing for Retirement' promotes a realistic and positive approach to the opportunities presented by retirement. Participants will be given the insight and skills needed to build a pro-active approach to continued well-being, be able to devise their own personal retirement “checklist” and will acquire an understanding of the financial implications of retirement and the many ways in which career skills can be used to satisfy life ambitions and develop future work opportunities.
At the Civil Service College, we tailor our courses to each participant’s role and organisation, ensuring that each participant gets the most out of the training. Our courses and trainers are continuously updated and evaluated to ensure that we are always delivering the best service possible.
This course is suitable for participants at all levels who are looking to plan ahead for their retirement.
Participants will be prepared for the adjustment to retirement and be able to develop a checklist to plan confidently for a well-balanced and rewarding future. They will gain insight into the key elements of retirement, in particular, fulfilling life after work including opportunities for voluntary and paid work as well as exploring new leisure activities and interests and the financial implications.
